Founding Chair, M. Paul Capp, MD, Honored

We would like to take a moment to celebrate the remarkable legacy of M. Paul Capp, MD, who played a pivotal role in the establishment of our department as its founding chair. Dr. Capp's deep commitment to advancing medical education and research, particularly in the realm of resident research, continues to resonate within our community. His dedication to shaping the field of radiology has left a lasting impact, and his passion for resident research remains a central part of his legacy. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Capp on the incredible honor of having a building named in his recognition at Roanoke College, his alma mater. Below are some highlights of his distinguished career:

  • Bachelor's degree from Roanoke in 1952
  • MD, University of North Carolina in 1956
  • Recruited to COM-T in 1970 as founding chair and professor of Radiology
  • After serving for over 23 years, he stepped down to become the executive director of the American Board of Radiology
  • Established a fund that supports the annual Radiology Research Day

Approved by the Board of Trustees in February, Roanoke College is naming its Administration Building – built in 1847 making it the oldest building on campus – after Dr. Capp. Learn more about Dr. Capp’s honor
