The University of Arizona Department of Medical Imaging at the College of Medicine and Banner University Medical Center—Tucson is pleased to welcome David J. Aria, MD, MBA, as the newest member of the department faculty. Dr. Aria joins Medical Imaging as an Associate Professor.
An expert in the field of Pediatric Radiology, Dr. Aria comes to us from St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia where he served as Department Chair. He earned his Medical Degree at Temple University where he was the honored with the Temple Children’s Hospital Key Maker Award during his pediatric rotation. Nominated by a hospital social worker and registered nurse for his exemplary work and dedication, Dr. Aria marked the first time a Temple School of Medicine student was bestowed this honor.
Dr. Aria earned his Master of Business Administration at Morehead State University and went on to complete his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Staten Island University Hospital. After Residency, Dr. Aria completed dual fellowships in both Pediatric Interventional Radiology and Pediatric Diagnostic Radiology at Phoenix Children’s Hospital where he remained as a staff attending.
A natural instructor, Dr. Aria is an invited lecturer, both nationally and internationally, and regularly contributes to Continuing Medical Education (CME). Early in his career, Dr. Aria served as an academic tutor at Ursinus College and worked as a MCAT Physical Science Instructor for the Princeton Review.
Dr. Aria has authored more than 40 publications and has presented over 150 scientific posters, exhibits and abstracts. He is a current member of Radiological Society of North America, Society of Pediatric Interventional Radiology, the American Board of Radiology, and the Society for Pediatric Radiology.
Dr. Aria provides a wealth of knowledge and experience from renown Children’s Hospitals from both coasts. His particular areas of interest include pediatric interventions and clinical operations.
Dr. Aria is fluent in English, Farsi and Spanish. When he is not working, Dr. Aria enjoys outdoor activities, sports and international affairs.
