The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) is pleased to welcome Bital Savir-Baruch, MD, who will serve as the new Chief of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Savir-Baruch joins us from Loyola University Medical Center where she is an associate professor of Radiology specializing in Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Savir-Baruch received her Doctor of Medicine from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary. After completing her medical degree, she accepted a Nuclear Medicine Research Associate position at Emory University’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Science. Following her General Surgery Internship, Dr. Savir-Baruch completed a Nuclear Medicine Residency at Emory University.
In addition to clinical expertise in diagnosing and managing prostate, thyroid, neuroendocrine, and breast cancers, Dr. Savir-Baruch specializes in diagnosing patients with cardiac amyloidosis and sarcoidosis. She is board-certified in Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology.
Dr. Savir–Baruch is passionate about research, patient care, and education, having served as a principal investigator of clinical trials, a mentor for Pathway for Added Certification in Education (PACE), a Team/Family leader, and a core faculty member in the Diagnostic Residency Program.
Dr. Savir-Baruch is an active member of many professional societies currently serving as secretary and co-chair of various committees within the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) and the American College of Nuclear Medicine (ACNM). Dr. Savir-Baruch was recently presented with the President Award at the 2020 annual meeting of ACNM, and she was awarded the Hal O’Brien Rising Star Award at the 2019 High Country Meeting of Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
