Medical Imaging Researcher Manoj Saranathan, PhD, Featured in News Video

Dr. Saranathan is featured in an Arizona Public Media news story relating to his involvement in a research study looking at the effects of Psilocybin on patients that have been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or OCD.  “The Psychedelic Reset” is the title of the video. Seen around the 5:26 mark, Dr. Saranathan explains the use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging to measure changes in the brain before the trial, at the mid-point and after the clinical trial.  A specific technique called Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) provides images of the whiter matter tracks in the brain, which allows researchers to see how different parts of the brain are connected.

Dr. Saranathan is working in conjunction with John J.B. Allen, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Psychology, University of Arizona, Jessica Andrews-Hanna, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychology, University of Arizona and Francisco Moreno, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, University of Arizona College of Medicine.
