We are pleased to introduce eight new faculty members who have joined the Department of Medical Imaging. All new faculty members will practice at both Banner-University Medical Center Tucson campuses.
Veronica Arteaga, MD, Associate Professor, Chest Section, returns to the Department of Medical Imaging on August 1st. She comes to the UA from UCLA Medical Center where she was a Diagnostic Cardiovascular Radiology Fellow. She completed medical school at Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, NH. She completed an Internship in General Surgery and her residency training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA. Her Fellowship in Thoracic Imaging was completed at UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA.
Tyson Chadaz, MD, Assistant Professor, MSK Section, just completed his MSK Fellowship in the Department of Medical Imaging. He comes to the Department of Medical Imaging from the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, NY, where he completed his diagnostic radiology residency training in Breast Imaging, Neuroradiology and MSK Imaging.
Lana Gimber, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor, MSK Section, just finished her Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology and her residency training in Diagnostic Radiology here at the University of Arizona in the Department of Medical Imaging. She completed an Internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Preliminary Medicine.
Gloria J. Guzman Perez-Carrillo, MD, MSc, Assistant Professor, Neuroradiology Section, will join the Department of Medical Imaging on August 1st. She comes to the UA from the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where she completed a Neuroradiology Fellowship as well as a combined junior faculty / second year Research Neuroradiology Fellowship. She completed medical school at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, and did residency training at Alameda County Medical Center, Oakland, CA and West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. She received a Master’s in Radiology from the University of Granada, Granada, Spain.
Joy Liau, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor, Body Section, joins the UA on August 1st. She comes to the Department of Medical Imaging from Stanford University where she completed a Body Imaging Fellowship. She completed medical school, her residency training and a Medicine Internship at the University of California at San Diego. She also received her PhD in Bioengineering from the University of California at San Diego.
Arash Meshksar, MD, Assistant Professor, Body Section, is also a UA alumnus. He recently completed his Body Fellowship in the Department of Medical Imaging. He completed Nuclear Medicine/PET Training and a Neuroradiology Fellowship here as well. Dr. Meshksar was a diagnostic radiologist at Vali-Asr Hospital in Lamerd, Iran, before moving to Arizona. He received his MD from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, where he also did his residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
Blair Winegar, MD, Assistant Professor, Neuro Section, comes to the Department of Medical Imaging from the University of Utah School of Medicine where he completed a Neuroradiology Fellowship. He completed his Radiology residency at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and medical School at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Gregory Woodhead, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor, Chest Section, completed both of his Fellowships in Nuclear Imaging and Vascular and Interventional Radiology and his residency training here at the University of Arizona in the Department of Medical Imaging. He completed his Internship in Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL.
