Title: Gadolinium: the Past, the Present and the Future

The Department of Medical Imaging is pleased to have Jennifer L. Becker, MD, presenting at our Grand Rounds on Wednesday, August 21st, in the College of Medicine, Room 2117, at 12:00 pm.

Dr. Becker has been an assistant professor of neuroradiology at UMC Tucson since 2013 and holds a joint appointment with the Department of Neurology. She was previously a consultant radiologist at Imperial College, London. She has been an invited speaker at national meetings including ARRS, ASNR, and ASSR and has been elected to be president of the Western Neuroradiology Society in 2021. Dr. Becker's research interests are varied and include Gadolinium deposition in the brain, stroke imaging and DTI and T1 and T2 mapping of the spine. She has a randomized trial ongoing at The University of Arizona of pediatric patients presenting with head injury, randomized to either MRI or CT, if further imaging is required after their initial CT scan. Dr. Becker hopes to start a trial of DDFP emulsion:- oxygen-carrying microbubbles, in stroke patients, here at BUMC-T in the near future.
