Terry Matsunaga, PharmD, PhD, is named 2021 Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. This honor serves to recognize Dr. Matsunaga's technological contributions to engineering and health care.
A valued member of the Medical Imaging Research Division for fifteen years, Dr. Matsunaga's research focuses on using microbubble technology for cancer imaging and drug and gene delivery. He developed Definity microbubbles, a technology that uses perfluorocarbons that can be injected during an echocardiogram to help diagnose problems in the heart.
