Speaker: Berndt Schmit, MD, MBOE

Title: CT Implementation in Low-Income Countries: Guyana and Haiti

The Department of Medical Imaging is pleased to have Berndt Schmit, MD, Assistant Professor, Radiology, presenting at our Grand Rounds on Wednesday, May 3rd, in the College of Medicine, Room 2117, at 12:00 pm.

Dr. Berndt Schmit is an assistant professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Banner University Medical Center. He is board certified in radiology and is fellowship trained in musculoskeletal imaging.

Dr. Schmit graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Arizona before returning to Boston for his radiology training. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts and then a musculoskeletal fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Schmit also earned a Master of Business Operational Excellence degree from The Ohio State University focusing on Lean healthcare management and process improvement.  

Dr. Schmit has extensive experience with sarcoma imaging, 3-tesla musculoskeletal imaging, joint and epidural injections.

Dr. Schmit is passionately committed to global radiology health improvement and holds a senior management position with Rad-Aid International. He has active educational and development projects in Haiti, Guyana, and Nicaragua.
