Over the course of an MSK fellowship at the Department of Medical Imaging, the fellow receives exceptional instruction in all aspects of Musculoskeletal radiology. The MSK fellow learns to interpret high volumes of MRI and CT studies, including sports medicine cases.
We offer outstanding research opportunities training in musculoskeletal ultrasonography and ultrasound-guided procedures, the opportunity to train in a top-tier Level I Trauma Center and a large number of interdisciplinary conferences.
Our Radiology board-certified faculty members are dedicated to education and are invited course instructors for national and international meetings.
Clinical Training Offered
- Musculoskeletal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Computed tomography (CT)
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound
- Arthrography/joint injections (diagnostic and therapeutic)
- Imaging-guided joint aspirations
- Bursal and tendon sheath aspirations and injections
- Ultrasound guided calcium lavage
- Computed tomography (CT)
- Radiography
- Soft tissue and bone biopsies
- Radiofrequency tumor ablations in conjunction with the Interventional Radiology Division (fellows spend a minimum of 2 weeks on dedicated biopsy service)
- Spinal interventions
Epidural, facet, sacroiliac joints, nerve root block, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, discography, etc. Performed by the Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology Divisions (musculoskeletal fellows can participate if interested)

Please note: the Fellow Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Arizona Medical License prior to the start of the program.To be eligible for acceptance, applicants must possess an MD or DO degree, and have completed training and eligible to take the national boards in an ACGME-accredited diagnostic radiology program in the U.S. or Canada, by the fellowship start date. The program participates in the MSK Fellowship Match.
