Microbubbles for Imaging and Therapy: From bubble baths and whipping cream to point-of-care and imaging cancer cells

The Department of Medical Imaging is pleased to have Terry Matsunaga, PhD, PharmD, presenting at our Grand Rounds on Wednesday, September 7th, in the College of Medicine, Room 2117, at 12:00 pm.

Terry Matsunaga, PharmD, PhD, is currently a Professor, Research Track, in the Dept. of Medical Imaging.  He received his PharmD and PhD from the University of California San Francisco and did a residency in pharmacy at the University of Michigan and was a NIDA post-doctoral fellow in the Chemistry Department at the University of Arizona.  He worked for 16 years along with Dr. Evan Unger at ImaRx Pharmaceutical where he helped in the basic research and regulatory development of Definity, a commercially available ultrasound contrast agent (Lantheus).  He currently conducts research on targeted microbubbles for imaging and therapy.  Most recently, his efforts focus on phase-change contrast agents for imaging.  He also chairs the steering committee for Science Moving Towards Research, Translation, and Therapy (SMARTT) for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the NIH.
