TOPIC: Safe Use of Iodinated Contrast Media in CT Examinations: The Truth, The Myths, The Uncertainties

The Department of Medical Imaging is pleased to have Marianna Zagurovskaya, MD, presenting at our Grand Rounds on Thursday, January 18th, in the College of Medicine, Room 2117, at 12:00 pm.

Dr. Marianna Zagurovskaya earned her MD in Internal Medicine from the former Soviet Union Republic of Kazakhstan. Additionally, she trained on-site in Nuclear Medicine diagnostics, later practicing both (Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine) for several years before relocating to the USA in 2003. She did several years of molecular and translational research in Radiation Oncology at the University of Kentucky, where she worked on prostate, lung, and pancreatic cancers. She later completed her Diagnostic Radiology Residency also at the University of Kentucky followed by a Cardiothoracic Fellowship at the Commonwealth Virginia University. Dr. Zagurovskaya then came back to the University of Kentucky as an Assistant Professor, where she is the part of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Radiology Division, with a joint position at the Department of Cardiology.

Her interests include typical and uncommon presentations of lung cancer, lung cancer metamorphosis under treatment, interstitial lung diseases, and cardiac disease diagnosis with MRI. Dr. Zagurovskaya is also actively involved in teaching at her institution (medical students, residents and cardiology fellows), nationally (including lecturing on safe use of contrast media at Roentgen Ray Society and award-winning educational exhibit on lung cancer on Society of Thoracic Radiology meeting), and internationally (with yearly recurrent multi-specialty onsite conferences and workshops for residents and practicing radiologists from Kazakhstan and neighboring countries).
