Abstract:  Diversity and Inclusion are core values that support excellence in the work environment and lead to health care equity. Diversity encompasses composition of multiple identities and has the potential to match the health and healthcare needs of our community, enrich appreciation of broader operational opportunities and challenges, and broaden our group skill sets, interests, and partnerships. Inclusion often refers to elements of culture and climate, the former addressing values and beliefs, and the later encompassing perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors.

We will discuss strategies that promote micro and macro-affirmation experiences as tools to improve departmental and institutional climate.
