Advances in Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound: Enabling Improved Flow Quantification and Image-Guided Therapy

Tue, 11/15/2016 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

The Department of Medical Imaging is pleased to have Paul Sheeran, PhD, presenting at our Grand Rounds on Tuesday, November 15th, at 12:10 pm in the College of Medicine, Room 2117.

Dr. Sheeran is a Research Fellow at Sunnybrook Research Institute, University of Toronto, Canada.

In the past two decades, rapid advances in ultrasound technology have driven improvements in imaging capability and have aided emerging applications in therapy. Dr. Sheeran will survey some of these advances – specifically ultrafast imaging (acquisitions >1000 images per second), the transition from hardware-based imaging platforms to programmable software-based platforms, and the development of next-generation contrast agents. Next, he will demonstrate how these advances are poised to meet specific clinical needs, particularly in improved imaging and quantification of flow and in image-guided therapy.
